1918: A Year in the Collections
1918 was a difficult and transitional year with the world deep in World War I and a deadly flu pandemic at home. Armistice came in November, "the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month," and the horrors of the "war to end all wars" began to abate. A new creative spirit flourished as modernism swept into art and design.
