Jacques Lipchitz was a Cubist sculptor known especially for work in stone and bronze. Musical motifs were common in his work. This 1926 is an example of the “transparent style” of bronze sculptures that Lipchitz developed during this period, which featured thin and ribbon-like components combined with ample empty space.
