This 1946 sheet music is for the song "Route 66!..." by Bob Troup. It represents the version of the song recorded for Capitol Records by the King Cole Trio, who a year earlier topped the very first Billboard Top Albums chart that was released on this same day.
Sheet Music, Route 66!. . .
- Description
- From the mid-1920s, the United States has had a national system of numbered highways (complementing highways numbered at the state and county level, and by the later interstate system of highways). One of the best known of these is Route 66, which originally ran from Chicago, Illinois to Los Angeles County, California. It was one of the first routes in this system. This song by Bob Troup describes the path of the highway and urges listeners to “Get your kicks on Route 66.” It represents the version of the song recorded for Capitol Records by the King Cole Trio.
