Paquito D’Rivera is a Cuban saxophonist, conductor, and composer of jazz and classical music (born on this day in 1948). He grew up surrounded by music. His father was a classical saxophonist and conductor in Havana. In 1986 they signed and dedicated this 1950s photo of a young Paquito and his father to Dizzy Gillespie, who eventually received the photograph.
