April 25
Today is the 103rd anniversary of the birth of Ella Fitzgerald, one of the most prominent and influential jazz singers of the 20th century. Among her many musical qualities, Ella Fitzgerald was especially renowned for her masterful improvisations, particularly through scat singing. This ink drawing of Fitzgerald was created by artist and author Stephen Longstreet during a 1975 recording session for Pablo Records.
