Costume for the Wizard in The Wiz on Broadway

May 17 “The Wiz: The Super Soul Musical ‘Wonderful Wizard of Oz’” is a 1975 musical adaptation of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz novel set in the context of 1970s African American popular culture. Although it got off to a rocky start on Broadway, it eventually proved highly successful, winning the Tony Award for Best Musical. This costume was worn by André De Shields in the role of The Wiz.
