Galina Ulanova was a renowned Russian ballet dancer who was the prima ballerina assoluta at the Bolshoi Theater. In this decorative porcelain figure, Ulanova is depicted dancing in the Tchaikovsky ballet Swan Lake, which premiered on this day in 1877.
