Selmer Alto Saxophone Used by Hymie Shertzer

The saxophone was invented by Belgian instrument maker Adolphe Sax and was first patented in June 1848. This French Selmer saxophone was made in 1932 and used by Hymie Shertzer, a saxophonist in well-known jazz ensembles such as the Benny Goodman and the Tommy Dorsey Bands.

Description

This saxophone was made by Henri Selmer Co. in Paris, France, in 1932. It is an alto saxophone, serial #17200, made of brass. The saxophone is engraved:
