"Private Number" Sheet Music

March 7

On this day in 1876, Alexander Graham Bell received a patent for his telephone design. Around ninety years later, telephones had become an integral part of society and romantic relationships as seen in the song “Private Number." Written by William Bell and Booker T. Jones, and recorded Bell and Judy Clay, the song tells the story of a man who is unable to call his lover because she changed her phone number to a private one.
