44c Flag single

Object Details

Description
On May 1, 2009, in Washington, DC, the US Postal Service issued the 44-cent definitive US Flag stamp. The stamp was designed by Terrence W. McCaffrey, USPS. It depicts a detail of an American flag from a photograph by Rick Barrentine of Duluth, Georgia. The detail, showing a softly folded flag, features most prominently the starry blue field, with red-and-white stripes occupying the remaining space.
The stamp was available in a pressure-sensitive adhesive coil of 3,000 and 10,000 and a water-activated gum coil of 3,000.
