- Description
- The Postal Service issued a 34-cent United We Stand definitive stamp on October 24, 2001, in Washington, DC. The stamp, designed by Terrence W. McCaffrey, was reissued in January of 2002.
- The United States flag is one of the most recognized symbols of freedom in the world. The United We Stand stamp features a stirring image of "Old Glory" with the words "United We Stand" across the bottom. The stamp was a fitting tribute to the invigorated patriotic spirit of our nation to unite in purpose, pride, and determination following the tragic events on September 11, 2001.
- The stamp was issued in a self-adhesive convertible booklet of twenty, (with 2.25 billion stamps printed by the Banknote Corporation of America Inc. in the offset/microprint process), and a self-adhesive coil of 100 (4.7 billion stamps printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in the gravure process).
