37c Bruin Bear single

Object Details

Description
The Postal Service issued four 37-cent Teddy Bears stamps in a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) pane of twenty, on August 15, 2002, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The stamps, designed by Margaret Bauer of Washington, DC, went on sale nationwide on August 16, 2002.
All four Teddy Bears featured were printed in the United States. The Ideal bear dates from circa 1905, the Bruin bear from circa 1907, and the Gund bear from circa 1948. The unlabeled stick bear dates from the 1920s and is characterized by short arms, thin legs, and an upright posture. Teddy Bears remain enormously popular today and are widely viewed as symbols of security and comfort.
The text on each stamp reads, "Teddy Bears USA." Sennett Security Products printed 200 million stamps in the gravure process.
