- The Postal Service issued four 34-cent Amish Quilts commemorative stamps in Nappanee, Indiana, on August 9, 2001. The stamps, designed by Derry Noyes of Washington, DC, went on sale nationwide August 10, 2001.
- The Amish quilt, distinctive in its simplicity, symmetry, deft needlework, and broad fields of deep color, is one of the most expressive traditions in American design. Amish quilting traditions are influenced by the values of Amish daily life: humility, simplicity, modesty, and serviceability. The four quilts featured on this pane of twenty stamps display the saturated colors, bold geometric patterns, and central design motifs characteristic of quilts made in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, during the first half of the twentieth century. The quilts belong to the Foundation for Deep Ecology in Albion, California.
