Description
This Prominent Americans Issue stamp depicts George Washington, the first President of the United States. Washington is one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. He was born in the Colony of Virginia in 1732. He served in the Virginia Regiment during the French and Indian War, also known at the Seven Years Wars. He later went on to serve as the Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. He was elected unanimously by the Electoral College in 1789 to serve as the first President of the United States.
