- This Crusade Against Cancer Issue stamp was issued to publicize the “Crusade Against Cancer” research being accomplished by both federal and private organizations and to stress the importance of early cancer diagnosis. Cancer research identifies the causes of the disease and develops strategies for prevention, diagnosis and treatment. The stamp features an image of a microscope and a stethoscope.
