- This Senator Norris Issue stamp features a portrait of United States Senator George Norris from Nebraska. He served as a Republican and an Independent. He started his political career locally before serving in the United States House of Representatives. He was a progressive politician, who supported labor unions and President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal programs. He was an advocate farming interests and public power, both reflected in the successful passage of the Tennessee Valley Authority Act and Rural Electrification Act.
