3c Roosevelt & White House single

Object Details

Description
mint; perf 11 x 10.5
The White House, Washington, D.C.
This stamp was the third in a series of four issued to commemorate the man who had led the nation through three terms as President beginning March 4, 1933.
The presidential residence, The White House, pictured behind Roosevelt was the site of his famous "fireside chats" -- radio broadcasts to the nation. As 32nd President of the United States, his terms spanned the Great Depression and World War II. Thirty-two years before Franklin Roosevelt's presidency began, his 5th cousin and Eleanor Roosevelt's uncle, Theodore Roosevelt, had served as the 26th President.
