Meryl Streep

Object Details

Exhibition Label
To say that Meryl Streep is a natural actor is only part of her success story. Her ambition, pluck, and training are equally impressive. Upon theatrical stages in high school, at Vassar and the Yale School of Drama, at Joseph Papp’s Public Theater in New York City, and in Hollywood, Streep has radiated authenticity in a wide range of roles. “There’s nothing she can’t do,” marveled one director. And Streep, at age thirty-two, was still just beginning her remarkable acting career when Time’s cover story reported on her new film, The French Lieutenant’s Woman (1981). Streep has gone on to win three Academy Awards and has been nominated a record nineteen times.
