Ethyl Chloride

Description
Glass jar with paper label that reads “ETHYL CHLORIDE / Entirely an American Product / Stratford-Cookson Co. / Philadelphia, Pa.” Ethyl chloride (aka chloroethane) was used as an anesthesia, a solvent, or a refrigerant.
According to an announcement in Western Dental Journal (1913), “E. DE TREY & SONS / Changes Hands / Dr. T. F. Stratford, formerly Sales Manager of the Dentists’ Supply Company, and W. K. Cookson, who since 1905 has been Manager of E. de Trey & Sons, have purchased outright the above business and will continue same under the name of STRATFORD-COOKSON COMPANY.”
