Object Details
- Description
- The Samuel S. White Co. was offering forceps of this sort by 1877, explaining that they were for use with a steno compressor, and “the pattern was furnished to us by Dr. Rich.” A steno compressor was used to compress the ducts of the parotid gland, in order to keep back the saliva during dental operations. John B. Rich (1811-1910) was a dentist in New York.
