- Description
- This plaster model has a curved plaster spiral rising from a plaster bas. It is described by the Göttingen university website as a “pipe helicoid” and by the catalog of the publisher, Ludwig Brill, as a “tubular screw surface.” The model was developed by Th. Kuenat the technical high school and Munich and first published in 1882. Various lines of curvature are indicated. This example of the model has no tags.
- This model was exhibited at the German Educational Exhibit at the Columbian Exposition, a World’s Fair held in Chicago in 1893. It there was purchased by Wesleyan University in Connecticut, and subsequently was donated to the Smithsonian.
