- This brass object was collected by Brooklyn high school teacher and historian of mathematics L. Leland Locke. It represents a nine by nine multiplication table. Seventeen shaped pieces are arranged in a row. The first represents multiples of 1, the second and third multiples of 2 (up to 2x9), the fourth and fifth multiples of 3 (up to 3x9), etc. Compare thes object to a piece on the left side of 317387.
