Description (Brief)
Collegiate pennant representing West Point, United State Military Academy, or Army. The back half of the pennant is black with black tassles. The forward half is yellow. The black section contains a version of the Seal of the United States, an eagle clutching an olive branch in its dexter talon, thirteen arrows in its sinister talon, above it a scroll with the motto, "E Pluribus Unum" / "Out of Many One." The yellow half has the text "West Point" in black. West Point, New York is home to the United States Military Academy. West Point participates in several different sports but are most notable for their football program which began in 1890. Army won three National Titles in 1944, 1945 and 1946. The years coincided with World War II as many of the country's best athletes joined the Army. West Point has also produced three Heisman Trophy winners: Pete Dawkins (1958), Glenn Davis (1946) and Doc Blanchard (1945). Former NFL coaches Vince Lombardi and Bill Parcels also worked at Army early in their careers as assistants.
