Curt Simmons

Object Details

Description
Pitcher Curt Simmons (b. 1929) played Major League Baseball for twenty years (1947-1967). All three of the left handers All-Star appearances came as a member of his first club, the Philadelphia Phillies, where he played from 1947-1960, missing the 1951 season after being called up for military service.
Released from the Phillies in 1960, Simmons joined the St. Louis Cardinals, helping them on their way to that year’s World Series Championship. In 1966 he pitched for the Chicago Cubs, moving to the California Angels during the subsequent season.
Simmons’ career numbers include a 193-183 win-loss record, a 3.54 earned run average and 1,697 strikeouts.
