- This Jim Eakins basketball card is number 213 in a series of 264 that was manufactured by the Topps Company Inc. for the 1972-1973 American Basketball Association (ABA) season. The front of the card features a posed picture of the Virginia Squires center on a yellow background. The card’s reverse features a small cartoon image illustrating the factoid that “Jim married his Brigham Young sweetheart,” as well as a short biography and career statistics.
- Jim played in the ABA from 1968–1976 as a member of the Oakland Oaks, Washington Caps, Virginia Squires, Utah Stars, and New York Nets. He won championships in 1969 on Oakland and in 1976 with the Nets. In 1974, while with the Squires, Eakins was named to his only ABA All-Star team. After the ABA merged with the NBA, Eakins played for the Kansas City Kings, San Antonio Spurs, and Milwaukee Bucks from 1976-1978.
