Alletsee English Violet

Object Details

Description (Brief)

This English Violet was made by Paulus Alletsee in Munich, Germany, in 1730. It has a one-piece top of medium grain spruce to the left that graduates to a fine grain to the right, two-piece back of knotted maple, ribs are of similar wood, the head, pegbox and neck are of one piece of maple, with a gold- brown varnish. The pegbox is ornamented with a blindfolded angel. This instrument has a maker’s and two restorer’s labels:
