New Orleans, La.Louis Grunewald (1827-1915) immigrated to the United States from Germany in 1852. Grunewald became a prominent businessman in New Orleans as the owner of the Grunewald Hotel (later becoming The Roosevelt New Orleans), a music publishing house and music instrument seller, the L. Grunewald Co., Ltd., and his own theater, Grunewald Hall.
