M.J. Paillard Co. Orchestra Cylinder Music Box

Description

This music box was made by M.J. Paillard Company in St. Croix, Switzerland, around 1880-1895. It is an interchangeable orchestra cylinder music box, serial #5733, with 48 tunes (6 cylinders,8 tunes each). This music box has a two-piece comb with 66 teeth (36, 30), 9 bells, drum with 8 beaters, castanet with 6 beaters, and 21 note organ. The cylinders are 16-3/16" long. The music box is activated by lever wound parallel springs (2), parallel. Accessioned with a coordinating table with 2 drawers to store the extra cylinders.
