- A Hun is defined as "a member of a warlike Asiatic nomadic people who ravaged Europe in the 4th-5th centuries." Modern culture also equates them with cruelty and barbarianism. In 1900 Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany, in a statement, compared "the Huns under Attila" to Germany taking no prisoners during the Boxer Rebellion in China. This reference was used by the Allied Nations as propaganda throughout the war to portray the Germans as ruthless barbarians.
