Pipe Bowl, William Jennings Bryan

Object Details

Description
Although the late nineteenth century was the heyday of political pipes, this undated full bust clay pipe bowl of William Jennings Bryan was probably made for the election of 1908, Bryan’s third run for the White House on the Democratic ticket. The pipe was made by Gambier of Paris who sold a similar portrait pipe of William Howard Taft, Bryan’s Republican challenger and eventual winner.
