A white man, Corporal Gaultney is looking around at the viewer with his body facing left. He has brown hair, brown eyes, is wearing a brown tunic with a overseas cap. He is wearing a backpack along with his long trench knife and his M1917 steel helmet. On his left shoulder, there is a red dimaond insignia indicating the fifth division. He is wearing collar disk with two guns crossed indicating infantry. His signature is seen on the lower right portion of the portrait. The painting is mostly complete and done with the exception of the lower left portion. The painting has a light brown background.
