- Description
- Silver-gilt or vermeil and polychrome enamel, serpentine-sided, rectangular case with snap-closure, hinged lid featuring an imitation lapis border around an inset painting of a nude woman or odalisque with Cupid, his arrows on bed at left, reclining in front of a window with perched bird, small dog and vase of roses; case sides and underside are engraved with bands of overlapping leaves and a larger pointed oval design. Curved tab at front center of lid. Gold washed interior. Outside front of box collar is struck incuse "800" and "ITALY" in sans serif letters and scratched with two sets of numbers.
