- Description
- Seamed cylindrical child's cup or mug with rococo-style repousse chased scrolls and flowers springing from a reserve at front bearing the engraved inscription "Jennie Griswold / from / her Mother. / May 21\st.. 1859."; ogival arches with flowers at rim and base. Spurred broken-scroll handle; applied molded rim and foot ring, both with beading; and flat bottom set in. Bottom underside struck once with a partially legible, vertically-oriented incuse mark "T / E / [& / Co]" over a circle and a diamond or lozenge containing "1 / 5 7 / 8"; "12" stamped sideways at left.
