Gill Measure

Object Details

Description
Baluster measure with hammerhead thumb piece; gill size. Wedge extension is burnt to the flat lid, which has an incised line around edge and center. Plain body has a galleried rim and flared base. Strap handle with flat, short terminal; circular strut and attachment. Top center of lid and outside of handle below thumbrest are stamped "IR" in incuse serif letters. No other marks.
