Move-a-thon

Object Details

Description
This water bottle comes from the Southeast Seattle Schools Fundraising Alliance Move-a-thons fundraising effort in the early 2020s. Recognizing that fundraising often reflect and can promote inequitable access to resources, PTA members of several schools, led by Christina Jimenez, established a collaborative fundraising alliance, the Southeast Seattle Schools Fundraising Alliance, for their schools. The group has held fundraising efforts, including a move-a-thon involving students (using the Bingo board to mark their efforts), with the monies raised distributed among the schools in the alliance. Supported by some, the effort has also generated controversy with some people objecting to funds raised in their school community being given to other schools.
