Dye plant sample; Impatiens pallida; Acquired from the Indians of Vincennes, Indiana, in 1882. Original cataloging reads: "Yellow Dye Plant. - The wild Lady Slipper, Impatriens pallida, The entire plant boiled in water with the addition of copperas produces a fine, yellow color for cotton or woolen fabrics. From the Indians of Vincennes, Indiana, 1882. 57,603. Collected by Dr. E. Palmer." on object tag.
