Silver Screen 85...Kennedy-Nixon

Object Details

Description
Richard Nixon and John F.Kennedy made history on September 26, 1960 when they became the first presidential candidates to hold a televised debate. Weeks later, they made history again—by debating each other from different sides of the country. This third Kennedy-Nixon debate came into living rooms on a split screen but was shot in three locations. Because of their campaign schedules, Nixon spoke in Los Angeles, Kennedy in New York, and the panelists in Chicago. This poster leveraged the televised presidential debates to sell more TVs.
