Obverse Image: Flourishes around center hole with authority and date surrounding.
Obverse Text: Romanization: DAI / NIHON / SHOWA / HACHI / NEN (Translation: Great Japan, Showa year 8).
Reverse Image: Bird with wings spread below hole in center with rays of sun on upper 1/2 of border with chrysanthemum flanked by value.
Reverse Text: Romanization: GO / SEN (Translation: 5 Sen).
