Description (Brief)
James D. Smillie (1833-1909) of New York engraved these images presented as one print for two views, plates 59 and 60, after original illustrations by Arthur Schott (1814-1875). They were published in Chapter IV "Sketch of Territory Acquired by Treaty of December 30, 1853" by William H. Emory (1811-1887) in Volume 1, Part 1 of the Report on the United States and Mexican Boundary Survey. The volume was printed in 1857 by A. O. P. Nicholson of Washington, D.C.
The drawing titles are: "View from Monument No. IV on the Sierra de las Tinajas Altas looking east towards Monument No. V," and "View from Monument IV looking west towards Monument No. III."
