Cornet Case

Description

This cornet case was made by J. Howard Foote Company in the United States, 1880-1895. It is made of wood, covered with black-stained leather, with metal fittings, and black plush interior. Accessioned with Courtois cornet (1981.0538.01). The interior of the case bears the marks:

NEW YORK
AND CHICAGO

J. Howard Foote, musical instrument dealer in New York and Chicago, was the sole Courtois importer in the United States in the 1880s and 1890s.
