Cherokee Indian School Letter Board

Object Details

Description
This letter board consists of two metal strips of uppercase alphabet letters made from metal printing type mounted on a rectangular piece piece of wood. On the back of the object is a piece of paper that indicates it was used in Cherokee Indian School located in Virginia, however while there were several small, segregated Indian schools in Virginia through the 1960's, noted Cherokee Indian Schools were in nearby North Carolina, or in Oklahoma. Cherokee that remained in Virginia were in the southwestern part of the state. .
