- Glass bottle with paper label that reads in part “Manufactured by / H. A. Metz Laboratories / INC / New York / Anaesthesine / TRADE MARK REG. U.S. PAT. OFFICE.” A label on the back explains that the substance was manufactured by the Farbewerke vorm. Meister Lucius & Brűning in Hoeschel o/ Main, Germany. Anaesthesine, a local anesthetic, was on the market by the early 1900s.
