Meat Thermometer

Object Details

Description
Mercury-in-glass meat thermometer with metal scale near the top. An inscription on the cardboard box reads in part “ALL GLASS THERMOMETER / Manufactured by / OHIO THERMOMETER CO., SPRINGFIELD, O.”
Lee F. Chaney, a pharmacist in Springfield, O., began making mercury thermometers and barometers in 1904. He established the Ohio Thermometer Co. in 1922 and incorporated it in 1934.
