Ohio Wesleyan Chemistry Class Photo

Object Details

Description (Brief)
Mounted photograph of a group of chemistry students at Ohio Weslyan College in humorous poses with scientific apparatus in a classroom. The thirteen male students are wearing aprons and smocks with a different chemical symbol chalked on each. The students are posed to make a number of visual gags - pretending to drink and sniff substances out of chemical vessels, for instance. Others simply appear bored or uninterested. A seated student in the photo's lower left is holding a sign with the year 1905 chalked on its surface. On the verso, in ink, is written "From right to left, Craig, Ports, Lacy, Bentley, Lloyd, Davis, Lipp, Cole, Barnes, Longsworth, Magee, Bowers, Vanphely / Chemical laboratory at O.W.U / X-mas vacation 1905".
