Description (Brief)
The Scovill Manufacturing Company of Waterbury, Connecticut produced this commemorative coin in 1935. The Scovill Company was established in 1802 as a button manufacturer and is still in business today. Scovill was an early industrial American innovator, adapting armory manufacturing processes to mass-produce a variety of consumer goods including buttons, daguerreotype mats, medals, coins, and transportation tokens.
Obverse: Image of two men working at a machine. The legend reads: WATERBURY CONNECTICUT/ 1674/ QUID AERE PERENNIUS/ 1935.
Reverse: Image of a large tree. The legend reads: CONNECTICUT TERCENTENARY/ 1635-1935/ QUI TRANSTULIT SUSTINE.
