Essbach Liberty Harmonica

Description

This harmonica was made by Carl Essbach in Germany, undetermined date. It is a Liberty model with 16 double holes and 32 reeds. The harmonica has a blond stained wooden comb with metal cover plates attached to the top and bottom with nails. Some of the reeds are exposed. There appears that something was attached at one time to the top of the harmonica over the exposed reeds. It is embossed:
