Description
Herbert Beutel, a Medtronics salesman who recognized the advantages of the new lithium battery for pacemakers, established Intermedics in Freeport, Tx., in late 1973. The firm introduced the term INTERLITH to commerce in 1976. An inscription on the case of this pacemaker reads “C-MOS-I / INTERLITH / Intermedics, Inc. / FREEPORT, TEXAS / U.S.A.”
