Mother's March on Polio Collection Envelope

Object Details

Description
A tan-colored paper collecting envelope with instructions for the January 31,1956 Mother's March on Polio fundraising drive. The envelope lists the roles and responsibilities for individuals involved in the March: Community Chairman; District Captain; Section Lieutenants; and the Mother's Marchers "(Your job is most vital)." There is also a section for the names of contributors and the amounts they gave.
The March of Dimes Mother's March campaigns began in the 1950s as a door-to-door fundraising event. A fundraiser organized in 1950 in Phoenix, Arizona, is considered to be the first Mother's March which set the pattern for future events.
