- Description
- Medal from the Barcelona Universal Exposition. The medal features a crowned female on one side and the Exposition's Palace of Industry on the other. Between April and December 1888 over 2 million people visited the Barcelona Universal Exposition, Spain’s first World’s Fair. Held on 115 acres of what is now Ciutadella Park, the Fair featured 27 participating nations, including the United States. The Exposition is noted for it’s celebration of the region’s Catalan culture.
