- Description
- White metal pin featuring New York Yankee Charles "Red" Ruffing (1905-1986.) The pin is part of the 1938 Our National Game series. It was originally was affixed to a cardboard backing.
- Pitcher Red Ruffing played Major League baseball for the Boston Red Sox (1924-1930,) New York Yankees (1930-1942, 1945-1946,) and Chicago White Sox (1947.) The Illinois native missed the 1943-1944 due to military service during the Second World War.
- Ruffing found his greatest success as a member of the powerhouse Yankee teams of the 1930s and 1940s, making all six of his All-Star game appearences and winning six world series during his time with the team. Amassing a lifetime 273-225 win-loss record, the right hander had a career 3.80 earned run average with 1,987 strikeouts.
- In 1967, he was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
